Featured Organization: NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH)

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH) is the local health department responsible for protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers. The agency provides information and resources on a wide range of public health issues.  The DOHMH is a founding member and co-chair of the IUD Taskforce and sponsors trainings, webinars, and other events to increase awareness and empower New Yorkers to make healthy and informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. 


  • Resources on Sexual and Reproductive Health include information about topics such as birth control, HPV vaccine, and sexual and reproductive health for teens.
  • Resources for Providers offer public health action kits, communications and publications, and the Primary Care Information Project (PCIP), which oversees programs to assist providers with using health information technology.viders with using health information technology.
  • NYC Teen allows teens to learn about their sexual health, and features resources such as where to get tested for STIs, how to deal with peer pressure, dating violence, and much, much more.
  • Teens in NYC Preferred Referral Guide is a listing of health care providers that offer comprehensive and confidential sexual and reproductive health services to adolescents, which is available in print, online, via 311 and as a mobile app (IPhone and Android).
